The Fatal Dowry is a Jacobean tragedy written by Nathan Field (1587-1620) with Philip Massinger, first printed in 1632. Field was one of the boy actors of the Children of the Chapel who grew into a leading player in Shakespeare's own company, the King's Men, and turned playwright. Nathan Field, also known as Nathaniel Field, worked as an English actor and playwright whose stage experience informed his dramatic writing. The Fatal Dowry was composed with Philip Massinger and reached print in 1632, although scholars place its creation earlier in the Jacobean period.
