About this book

The Garden of the Plynck is a book by Karle Wilson Baker. The contents list names, among others, The Dimplesmithy, Avrillia, Crumbs and Waffles and The Little Lost Laugh. Chapter I, The Dimplesmithy, opens with the remark that grown people have such an exasperating way of saying, Now, when I was a little girl.

The Snimmy is shown threateningly dancing and squeaking around Sara’s feet while Sara shrinks away from him. The Echo of the Plynck, in the water, tells Sara that no Snimmy can endure to see a mortal sit down. The Brown Teddy-Bear looks so fiercely sad that Sara decides she cannot leave him, and Sara keeps him dressed in a kerchief and full skirt so that he has the effect of a doll. A character takes Sara by the hand, says Come, Sara, and then leads her in a sort of triumphal march around the pool while the rest fall in behind and form a procession.
