The Handmaid’s Tale is one of the remarkable books by Margaret Atwood, which opens in future America, but then transfers to the fictional Republic of Gilead, in which women are used only for procreation. Yet, in the novel that portrays the future dystopian society, Offred, Handmaid has an “everyday hero” story – about the power and submission and rebellion. A play that is a tragedy has many lessons that probably others should understand and a play that doesn’t set people free.
