Margaret Atwood’s Hag-Seed is a wonderful adaptation of Shakespeare’s The Tempest. The cure is a black comedy about Felix, a disgraced Canadian theater director who drove his wife to kill themselves and now plans to tear apart the play in his anger by directing it in prison. Atwood blends humor, drama, and redemption as she reimagines the classic in the guise of a thriller, as well as power, forgiveness and the power of the magic of art and storytelling to transform.
