About this book
Thought supplies the changing element in a universe governed by constant law, according to T. Troward's New Thought essays. His argument begins with the idea that thought is a force capable of directing other forces. The chapters move through facts in nature, psychic experiences, humanity's place in creation and the principle of wholeness, joining philosophical reasoning to spiritual belief.
A central distinction separates the unchanging Law from the variable Word, which Troward identifies with thought or desire. He uses the example of iron floating or sinking to explain how a fixed principle can produce different results. From there, he considers confidence, freedom from anxiety and the value of putting successive ideals into practice. Readers interested in New Thought can follow his account of how individual intention relates to a universal creative spirit, while seeing the assumptions on which his conclusions depend.
