The Life and Adventures of Nat Love is the 1907 autobiography of Nat Love (1854-1921), born into slavery in Tennessee, who became one of the most famous Black cowboys of the American West and later a Pullman porter. Writing as Deadwood Dick, a title he claimed to have won in a Dakota roping and shooting contest, Love tells of cattle drives, gunfights, and the open range in a tall-tale style all his own. It is a rare first-person Black voice from the cowboy West. Free PDF download available on BDeBooks.
