About this book
The Life of Adoniram Judson is written by his son, Edward Judson. The text says that on the 10th of August Mr. Judson left Amherst, the little enclosure, the hope-tree and the graves that held the remains of all that were dearest to him on earth, and that he joined the Boardmans at Maulmain. The text quotes a journal description of the death of Mah-men-la, the first female convert among the Burmans, whose will left fifty rupees to her brother, one hundred and fifty to the missionaries, and the remainder to her two adopted boys.
One of the most active of the Children of the Prison is described as a short, broad-faced man labelled Thief, so fond of the use of the whip that he often missed his count and zealously exceeded the number of lashes ordered by the city governor. The text says the king began to think that none but Bandoola understood the art of fighting with foreigners, and that his majesty recalled him.
