The London Pulpit by J. Ewing Ritchie is marked as a Second Edition that is revised, corrected, and enlarged. The dedication, addressed to John R. Robinson, Esq., says the contents of the work originally appeared under his editorial sanction. One section says the Methodists have, in all, 154 chapels in London, the larger number of which belong to the Wesleyans. The text gives the Methodists in London, including six or seven sub-divisions, sittings for 69,696.
The text says Mr. Morris has acquired some little reputation as a writer, not that he has written much, but that what little he has done has been well done. The text names the chief performance of Mr. Morris as "Religion and Business, or Spiritual Life in one of its Secular Departments." The text says the Doctor is a rhapsodist, not a lecturer, and shouts as if he were a war-horse going into battle.
