About this book

The Magic of Thinking Big by David J. Schwartz came out in 1959 and is one of the foundational books in the entire self help category. Schwartz argues that the size of your success is determined by the size of your belief, and most of us think too small. Old fashioned in tone but the ideas have aged better than most of what came after.

David J. Schwartz

Taught marketing at Georgia State and published The Magic of Thinking Big in 1959. It has never been out of print since. The argument is unfashionably plain: most people fail from small thinking rather than small ability, and excuses get constructed after the decision to quit has already been made.
