The Measure of a Man: A Tale of the Big Woods is a 1911 novel by Norman Duncan (1870-1916), the Canadian writer best known for his Newfoundland tales and the Doctor Luke of the Labrador stories. Duncan wrote from real travel among the fishing outports and the northern woods, and this tale of the logging country carries the rugged moral seriousness that made his frontier fiction popular.
