About this book
The Norwegian Fjords is painted and described by A. Heaton Cooper, with twenty-four full-page illustrations in colour. The writer finds Bergen in many respects a most interesting town, the ancient rubbing shoulders with the modern, among other pairings the electric tram-car with the carrier's cart and kariol. The writer says the chief subject of the book is the fjords and takes first the Hardanger Fjord, an arm of the sea second in length to the Sogne Fjord, the longest.
A little woman gives the writer a tiny paper packet which, she said, contained a few four-leaved clover sprigs. Nærödal is described as one of the grandest valleys in Norway, where a narrow ribbon of road threads the deep valley, crossing and recrossing the clear mountain torrent.
