The Novels and Tales of Henry James is the collected New York Edition of the fiction of Henry James (1843-1916), the American-born master of the psychological novel. James selected, revised, and arranged his novels and tales for the edition published by Scribner’s between 1907 and 1909, supplying the eighteen critical prefaces that became, gathered later as The Art of the Novel, the foundation of modern novel criticism. The edition presents the revised texts of The Portrait of a Lady, The Ambassadors, The Wings of the Dove, The Golden Bowl, and the selected tales, in James’s final intended form. The New York Edition is both the monument of James’s career and a primary document of the novelist’s art reflecting on itself. Free PDF download available on BDeBooks.
