About this book
The Russian story book is a book by Richard Wilson. The tale headed Ilya and Cloudfall says that for thirty years Ilya sat upon the stove in his mother's cottage, a helpless cripple without arms or legs. A visitor who gives the name Vasily Mikulich, envoy of King Yetmanuila Yetmanuilovich, demands the hand of Prince Vladimir's daughter Lovely in honourable marriage. Lovely, looking at her royal father, says that the one who came is no bold ambassador from the Island of Kodol or elsewhere, but a woman.
Ivan says he shall sleep for no longer and no shorter than nine days and nine nights, and Peerless Beauty tells Ivan Tsarevich she shall be weary of waiting and watching. A rushing whirlwind came across the open steppe, and Koschei Who Never Dies, resting in its heart, bore away Peerless Beauty to his kingdom beyond the sea. Rough-Coat says that his eldest brother is Cloudfall, the shaggy bay steed ridden by Ilya of Murom.
