About this book

The Searcher, introduces readers to Cal Hooper, a retired detective from Chicago who, after a tough divorce, relocates to a secluded village in rural Ireland. He plans to renovate an old cottage he’s purchased, enjoy the serene mountain walks, and leave his policing instincts behind.

The book is a slow-paced mystery set in a fictional small town in West Ireland. It marks a departure from French’s usual Dublin Murder Squad series, offering a new angle to her storytelling. Despite its introspective and visual style, it’s considered a must-read among French’s works.
