About this book
The Spell of Japan is a book by Isabel Anderson. The text says Korean men wear curious little open-work hats of black horsehair. According to the text, it is said that the broad-brimmed hat sometimes worn by the men originated, several centuries ago, in the efforts of one of the emperors to put a stop to drunkenness.
The text says Miss Tsuda said they had adopted chairs and desks because the girls felt that on the whole the chairs were more comfortable. The text says that European food is given, as well as Japanese. The text mentions crystal balls and says the legend called The Crystal of Buddha seems to show that these balls were originally introduced from China.
