About this book

Chapter V begins with Francisco Pizarro riding at anchor in the harbor of Panama, where people had given him up as lost. He has brought back live llamas and pieces of finely woven woolen cloth. In another passage he stands before the audience chamber of the Emperor, Charles, who examines the wool and the gold and silver work, while the Queen, Isabella of Portugal, and the Archbishop of Toledo are in the room.

Another passage shows Pizarro speaking in friendly tones to a fallen monarch, whom he addresses as Your Highness, and telling him to take courage. Elsewhere a native girl takes a rooster from Congo's hand and asks an interpreter what the fowl has said. The cavalier Molina answers that it says she is very beautiful, and the passage breaks off as a guard carrying a spear moves. The front of the book lists other titles by Thomas Dixon.
