About this book
The Tower of London, by William Harrison Ainsworth, is presented as a historical romance with illustrations credited to George Cruikshank. The contents list Queen Jane's entry into the Tower of London and a mysterious occurrence involving her in Saint John’s Chapel in the White Tower. Queen Jane walks with her dress supported by the bishops of Rochester and Winchester and her long train carried by her mother, the duchess of Suffolk.
Gog and Magog appear in costumes resembling their gigantic namesakes of Guildhall, and the giants' arrival draws a general roar of delight. Jane asks about her husband, and Feckenham replies that his death will take place at the same time as her own.
