About this book
The Trail of the Goldseekers, A Record of Travel in Prose and Verse, is by Hamlin Garland. The contents list chapters headed Outfitting, On the Stage Road, In Camp at Quesnelle and The Blue Rat. The text says there were women going to join their husbands at Dawson City, and young girls on their way to Vancouver and Seattle, and whole families emigrating to Washington.
The text says that late in the afternoon we entered upon the Selkirks, where no life was. The text says that, most curious of all, the party found some flint-lock muskets made exactly on the models of one hundred years ago, but dated 1883. The writer says it was plain that goldseeking in the Rocky Mountains was marvellously simple and easy compared to even the best sections of the Northwest.
