About this book

The Years Between is a book by Rudyard Kipling, first published in 1919. A dedication to the seven watchmen shows Seven Watchmen sitting in a tower, watching what had come upon mankind, who showed the Man the Glory and the Power. A piece titled The Rowers and dated 1902 carries a note: when Germany proposed that England should help her in a naval demonstration to collect debts from Venezuela.

The Song of the Lathes, dated 1918, is given as the words of the tune hummed at her lathe by Mrs. L. Embsay, widow, and its lines include Shells for guns in Flanders, Flanders! and Feed the guns! One piece says that if you ask for the reason of every command and argue with people about you, Willie, my son, don't you go on the Land, for the Land will do better without you. One piece says that the robber did judgment again upon such as displeased him, the slayer too boasted his slain, and the judges released him.
