About this book
Will Rogers wrote There’s Not a Bathing Suit in Russia & Other Bare Facts, with illustrations by Herb Roth. A list of subjects is introduced with the line that if you like the following subjects you will just love this text book, and the list includes 21 other wrong ways to run a country. The writer says that things look pretty bad there, with twelve years in which trains, street cars, Public Buildings, and in fact everything has not had a thing done to it since the day the Czar’s forces marched off to fight Germany.
The writer says of Russia that it is the largest continuous domain in the World and covers nearly one-sixth of the total surface of the earth, with over one hundred different Nationalities living inside the Soviet Union. The writer says that when he went in there he wanted to see Trotzky, and speaks of Duranty as the best informed man in Russia on their affairs and a godsend to visiting English or Americans.
