About this book
Arthur Quiller-Couch is the author of True Tilda. The contents list names, among others, chapters headed At the Sign of the Good Samaritan, How True Tilda Came to Dolorous Gard and A Kidnapping. Tilda says "It was a naccident" firmly and with composure, and adds that her dog is not a nasty cur. A shopwoman says she believes Tilda is the child who was hurt at Maggs's Circus and taken to hospital, and Tilda nods.
Arthur Miles is shown searching again in the thumbed pages of The Tempest for a hint. Glasson is said to owe for coal: thirteen ten on the last lot delivered, and six pounds owin' before that, total nineteen ten.
