About this book
Two Royal Foes, by Eva Annie Madden, was published in October, 1907, with illustrations by the Kinneys. The contents list chapters titled, among others, The Mighty Foe, The Angel of Prussia, At Jena, At Tilsit and The People's War. A man tells his daughter Anna that the soldiers are certain of victory and that Prince Hohenlohe laughed like a boy when a soldier declared that he would catch one Frenchman.
Frau Weyland says, "Boasting, father, never won a prize yet. It is doing that counts." A chapter headed The Journal says Marianne had first heard of her Aunt Erna's journal in Berlin. The chapter headed The Journal says the night was one when Ludwig Brandt had come in with the news that the French had made the French Consul, Napoleon, Emperor. A chapter headed The Check says East Prussia again was frozen, the snow lay deep on the ground, and the East Prussians declared they had never known a winter so terrible.
