About this book

Four children spending a seaside holiday manage to free a captured mermaid, and their reward is a plunge into the strange kingdoms beneath the waves. What starts as a bit of shoreline mischief turns into a full undersea adventure, complete with a war between the Mer People and the sinister Under Folk, and with beloved storybook characters who come surging to life to join the fight. Nesbit blends everyday sibling squabbles with genuine wonder, the trademark that made her a founder of modern children's fantasy. Playful, inventive, and a little eerie in its deep-water passages, it rewards readers who like their magic tangled up with real family life. Free to download as a PDF or EPUB.
