About this book

Emily Brontë’s sole novel, “Wuthering Heights”, published in 1847 under the alias “Ellis Bell”, is a tale set on the moors of West Yorkshire. It centers around the intricate relationships between two families, the Earnshaws and the Lintons, and Heathcliff, an adopted child of the Earnshaws.

The novel is renowned for its dramatic and poetic style, and its unconventional structure. It boldly portrays mental and physical cruelty, challenging the norms of Victorian morality, religion, and class hierarchy. The story is narrated by Lockwood, an impartial observer, and the housekeeper, Ellen Dean.
