Bani Basu is an Indian Bengali author who has made significant contributions to contemporary Bengali literature. Bani Basu was born in Kolkata in 1940 and went on to study English literature at Jadavpur University. Basu’s works are known for their feminist themes and often explore the complexities of relationships and human psychology.

Some of Bani Basu’s most well-known books include “Swet Patharer Thala,” “Maitreya Jatak,” and “Gandharvi.” Bani Basu has received numerous awards for her contributions to Bengali literature, including the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2019 for her novel “Alo-Andhakare Jai.” She continues to write and is highly regarded as a leading voice in Bengali literature.
