Nachiketa Chakraborty was born in Kolkata at Muktaram Babu Street. His ancestral roots lie in Chechri Rampur village in Kathalia Upazila of Jhalokati District of Bangladesh.He started composing songs and performing live, as a student of Maharaja Manindra Chandra College in North Kolkata's Shyambazar. In 1993 his first album Ei besh bhalo achi was released; it was an instant hit. His colloquial language immediately hit the stagnancy of Bengali music in the early 90s.He changed the age-old concept of Bengali lyrics. Today, he remains a renowned singer-songwriter and composer in Kolkata.
