Badshah Namdar is Humayun Ahmed’s historical novel about the Mughal emperor Akbar, written in his last years and showing his interest in larger historical canvases. The book follows Akbar from his early reign onward, focusing on the personal side of an emperor we usually meet only in textbook form.
It is not a heavy academic novel. Humayun Ahmed keeps his familiar light prose, which makes the history easy to enter.
