Seeking quiet in a remote part of Scotland, she instead senses a woman calling for help and becomes involved in a police inquiry. Detective Jess Love then enters Alex’s life as both protector and partner, establishing the bond that continues through later books such as Buried, The Creator, Christmas Hope, One, and Echo Lake. Published in 2017, Alex Hope provides the origin of Alex’s unusual ability and the series partnership. Estelliam’s bibliography later expands into other connected sequences, but this first book remains the clearest introduction to her recurring interest in intuition, trust, danger, and emotionally linked investigators.
