Abbi Waxman
Waxman writes comic novels about anxious people handling more than they signed up for. The Bookish Life of Nina Hill gives its bookshop-working, trivia-team-captaining heroine a father she never knew, who has died and left her a large and entirely unwanted family. I Was Told It Would Get Easier puts a mother and teenage daughter on a college tour bus across America, alternating their voices so a reader watches each of them misread the other. Born in England, she worked in advertising and lives in Los Angeles with a household of animals that appear in the acknowledgements more often than people do.
