Camille Minichino writes under several names, Ada Madison among them, and behind all of them is a research physicist who spent years at the Lawrence Livermore laboratory before turning to mysteries. The Sophie Knowles books give a college mathematics professor a run of campus deaths to work through, and the titles are jokes about her subject: The Square Root of Murder, The Probability of Murder, A Function of Murder. The mathematics is real and lightly worn. Minichino also writes the Periodic Table mysteries under her own name, plus a miniatures series under a third, which is a lot of shelves for one person.
