Aeschylus
Aeschylus fought at Marathon and probably at Salamis, and his epitaph records the battle rather than the plays, which is said to have been his own instruction. He added a second actor to tragedy, which is the point at which drama becomes dialogue instead of a chorus with a soloist. Seven of perhaps ninety plays survive. The Oresteia is the only complete Greek tragic trilogy left, and it follows a family's blood feud until Athens replaces revenge with a law court. Prometheus Bound, whose authorship is now disputed, has a god chained and punished for giving fire to human beings. He died in Sicily in 456 BC.
