About this book
The Lyrical Dramas of Aeschylus Translated into English Verse presents the dramas in verse, accompanied by discussion of choral hymns and the forms such hymns could take. The discussion records the tradition that the Dithyramb or Bacchic Hymn was also called a Circular Hymn, while allowing that a circular chorus need not mean singers standing in a ring.
The dramatic dialogue includes a speech examining footprints, comparing the heel and sole with the speaker's own and admitting to being racked with doubt. Orestes comes forward and urges thanks to the gods for a first prayer granted, asking that a fair ending follow a fair beginning.
