Alex Ferguson
Ferguson managed Manchester United for twenty-six years and left in 2013 with thirteen league titles and two European Cups, having arrived at a club that had not won the league since 1967. My Autobiography covers the last stretch and is franker than the job usually permits: what he had come to think of Roy Keane, why David Beckham had to go, how the Wayne Rooney negotiation actually went. Before United he took Aberdeen to a European trophy past Real Madrid, which in Scottish football is close to unrepeatable. The method he describes is mostly about control, of the dressing room, the press and the clock.
