Alexandra Kleeman

Alexandra Kleeman sets familiar consumer environments slightly off balance to examine bodies, media and ecological change. Her 2021 Hogarth novel Something New Under the Sun follows a novelist in drought-stricken near-future California, where a film production and a synthetic-water company draw him into an environmental mystery. Her earlier books include the novel You Too Can Have a Body Like Mine and the story collection Intimations. Kleeman’s short fiction and essays have appeared in the New Yorker, the Paris Review and Harper’s, extending her scrutiny of contemporary culture beyond novels.
