Alix E. Harrow
📚 2 Books ✍️ Fiction Books 📄 PDF & EPUB 🌍 America 🎂 1989

A short story, A Witch's Guide to Escape: A Practical Compendium of Portal Fantasies, ran in Apex Magazine in 2018 and won Alix E. Harrow the Hugo Award for best short story in 2019. Her first novel followed a month after that. The Ten Thousand Doors of January sends a girl kept as the ward of a wealthy collector through doors that open between worlds, and made the Hugo, Nebula and World Fantasy shortlists. A Mirror Mended, from 2022, is the second of two short fairy tale books after A Spindle Splintered: its Sleeping Beauty, Zinnia Gray, has learned to slip between retellings of her own story and gets dragged into Snow White's instead. Harrow was born in Idaho in 1989, grew up in Kentucky and read history at Berea College. She taught African and African American history at Eastern Kentucky University before turning to fiction.
