Allen Upward
Allen Upward (1863-1926) was a British poet, barrister, politician, and teacher whose wide-ranging career touched law, letters, and philosophy. He is best remembered as one of the poets gathered in Ezra Pound's Imagist anthology Des Imagistes (1914), and for the odd distinction of first putting the word "Scientology" into print, in his 1907 book The New Word. Alongside his verse he wrote popular fiction, including several historical adventure novels of which Athelstane Ford is one.
