Andrea Beaty

Beaty studied biology and computer science and worked in software before picture books, which shows in what her characters get up to. Iggy Peck, Architect arrived in 2007, Rosie Revere, Engineer in 2013 and Ada Twist, Scientist in 2016, all drawn by David Roberts, whose spidery pen-and-ink work is half the appeal. The verse rhymes and is built to be read aloud. Rosie Revere sold quietly at first and then became a fixture in American classrooms, largely because it is about failing repeatedly and carrying on anyway, which teachers found useful. Netflix animated the books. She lives near Chicago.
