Andrea K Höst
Andrea K Höst is Swedish by birth and Australian by upbringing, raised mainly in Townsville in north Queensland and later based in Sydney, and she publishes her fantasy and science fantasy herself. The Touchstone Trilogy collects Stray, Lab Rat One and Caszandra, told as the diary of Cassandra Devlin, who walks out of her last school exam into a forest on another world and has to work out how to survive there. Snow Day is a Touchstone short story of about ten thousand words, more character sketch than plot. Champion of the Rose sits in Darest, a kingdom bordering Faerie. The Pyramids of London begins something different again, an alternate history in which lightning sustained Rome, Egypt's vampiric god-kings trade in medicine and good weather, and small Prytennia holds the skies. The Starfighter Invitation opens The Singularity Game, built on the first full virtual reality game and the question of who is really behind it. Her novel And All the Stars made the 2012 Aurealis shortlist for best science fiction novel, an award Daniel O'Malley took that year for The Rook.
