Anna Llenas
The Color Monster: A Pop-Up Book of Feelings, issued by Sterling in 2015, is the English form of Anna Llenas's El monstruo de colores, which Editorial Flamboyant brought out in Barcelona in 2012 as a flat picture book, the pop-up version arriving in 2014. A monster wakes with his feelings knotted together and a girl helps him sort them into jars, one colour to each: happiness, sadness, anger, fear and calm. Llenas, born in Barcelona in 1977, studied advertising and public relations at the Autònoma de Barcelona and graphic design at the Llotja school, then art directed at Bassat Ogilvy before going independent with clients including La Vanguardia and Nestlé. Her later training in art therapy runs straight through the picture book, which was the first title she signed as both writer and illustrator. It has since been translated into more than twenty-five languages and taken up in classrooms for teaching children to name what they feel.
