Leigh Richmond wrote American science fiction and frequently collaborated with her husband, Walt Richmond. Where I Wasn’t Going first appeared as a 1963 serial in Analog and was later expanded under the title Challenge the Hellmaker. The story follows a space mission disrupted by technological surprises and questions about where its travelers are actually headed. Poppa Needs Shorts, first published in Analog in 1964, is another joint Richmond story, built as comic speculative fiction around a child's words and a machine's literal interpretation. Their shared work ranged from short fiction to novels including Phoenix Ship, Gallagher's Glacier, and The Lost Millennium. Richmond also published Prologue to an Analogue under her own name and later wrote as Leigh Richmond-Donahue. These two stories therefore represent a writing partnership rather than a single-author bibliography. Their combination of technical puzzles, domestic comedy, and large-scale speculation places the pair within mid-century magazine science fiction.
