Anna Staniszewski

Anna Staniszewski gives fantasy conventions a comic, unruly turn in stories written for younger readers. My Epic Fairy Tale Fail holds the second slot in the My Very UnFairy Tale Life sequence. Jenny returns to the Land of Tales and must complete three tasks connected to the missing fairy-tale princess Ilda, relying on companions whose abilities do not fit the expected script. Sourcebooks Jabberwocky added the work to its younger fiction list in 2013. My Very UnFairy Tale Life begins Jenny's adventures, while My Sort of Fairy Tale Ending concludes the sequence, preserving her reluctant and often exasperated narrative voice. Staniszewski has also created the Dirt Diary and Once Upon a Cruise books. Across these projects, capable young protagonists meet comic complications in settings where cooperation matters more than awaiting a perfectly arranged rescue. The humor comes from testing familiar story rules against characters willing to question their assigned parts.
