Dixit is a Princeton economist whose technical work covers investment under uncertainty and trade theory, and who is known outside the field for a book aimed at people who will never open a journal. Thinking Strategically, written with Barry Nalebuff, teaches game theory through voting, auctions, sport and negotiation without algebra. Born in Bombay and trained at MIT, he has served as president of both the Econometric Society and the American Economic Association. His technical papers are dense; the popular book has no equations in it at all.
