Ben Macintyre

Macintyre writes narrative history out of declassified intelligence files and has had unusual access to them. Agent Zigzag follows a safecracker who became a double agent; A Spy Among Friends concerns Kim Philby and the friend he deceived for decades; The Spy and the Traitor reconstructs the exfiltration of Oleg Gordievsky from Moscow in the boot of a car. Agent Sonya is about the Soviet colonel who ran atomic espionage from a Cotswold village while raising three children. He has written a Times column for many years.
