Nicholas D. Kristof
1959
This hub and one without the middle initial belong to the same writer, and each holds a different title. Tightrope, again with Sheryl WuDunn, goes back to the rural Oregon school bus route he rode as a child, counts how many of the children on it died early of drugs, drink and accident, and asks what happened to the American working class in the years between. It is closer to home than the foreign reporting he is known for, and considerably less certain in its conclusions, which is the point of writing it.
