Bryan Thomas Schmidt
Bryan Thomas Schmidt writes and edits science fiction, with work spanning space opera, anthologies, and writing instruction. The Worker Prince opens The Saga of Davi Rhii and recasts elements of the Moses story within an interstellar society. Davi, raised as a Boralian prince and trained at a military academy, discovers that his origins connect him to the oppressed Vertullian workers. That knowledge unsettles his loyalties to family, government, and the culture that shaped him. Schmidt describes the novel as a hero’s journey influenced by classic space adventure while intended for a general audience. Boralis Books released a third edition in 2021. He continued the sequence with The Returning and has also edited anthologies including Infinite Stars and Shattered Shields. His editorial and nonfiction work reflects a parallel interest in how speculative stories are constructed. The Worker Prince combines political conflict, family tension, friendship, and questions of identity, using a familiar narrative framework to build an original far-future setting. The story examines leadership within inherited systems of power.
