Calla Henkel

Other People's Clothes puts two American art students into a Berlin sublet belonging to a famous thriller writer, who is watching them and turning what she sees into her next novel. Henkel is an American artist and playwright who lived in Berlin for years and ran a bar and theatre there with a collaborator, so the scene in the book is reported rather than imagined. It is about being observed, and about how much the two of them want to be.
