Carol Jenkins
Carol Jenkins built a career as an award-winning television journalist before extending her work into books. She wrote Black Titan with her daughter, Elizabeth Gardner Hines. The biography tells the story of A. G. Gaston, their uncle and great-uncle, who built a Birmingham business empire spanning insurance, banking, communications, and real estate while supporting the civil rights movement. Published by One World, its full title is Black Titan: A.G. Gaston and the Making of a Black American Millionaire. Jenkins and Hines combine family knowledge with social and economic history, placing Gaston's entrepreneurship within the conditions faced by Black Americans across much of the twentieth century.
