Battle Brothers, the mercenary strategy game from Overhype Studios, gained its first novel in 2022, written by the man responsible for the game's own text. Casey Hollingshead had already scripted Battle Brothers and a tie-in comic before The Witch Hunter, which runs to roughly 485 pages. Its protagonist is Richter von Dagentear, known in legend as the Wight, who crosses a realm sliding into war and takes on a job that contradicts everything his calling stands for. The book finishes the story of the traveller carrying the Lorekeeper's black book, a figure introduced in the game's Blazing Deserts expansion, and reached the semifinals of the eighth Self-Published Fantasy Blog-Off.
