Cathy Marie Hake

Cathy Marie Hake writes historical Christian romance with an emphasis on humor, practical work, and couples learning to understand one another. Whirlwind is the third Only in Gooding novel, following Millicent Fairweather from an Atlantic crossing toward an unexpected marriage and a new life in Texas. Serendipity is book five, centering Todd Valmer, Maggie Rose, a struggling farm, and the difference between quick attraction and a durable partnership. Bethany House published both novels, with Whirlwind appearing in 2008 and Serendipity in 2010. Hake trained as a nurse and worked in oncology and perinatal care before becoming a full-time novelist. Her professional experience lends everyday detail to stories in which care, household labor, and community ties often carry as much weight as courtship. These two books also show her preference for capable women whose skills reshape the homes they enter. Their linked settings let later stories echo people and places introduced earlier in Gooding.
