Charles M. Snyder

Charles M. Snyder was an American humorist and novelist working in Philadelphia and New York around the turn of the twentieth century. He is best known for Comic History of Greece (1898) and the castaway spoof Runaway Robinson (1901), and the title page of The Flaw in the Sapphire credits him with a third volume, Snap Shots. Beyond his books the record of his life is thin: Project Gutenberg lists no birth or death dates for him and holds this novel alone. What survives of him is a taste for structural mischief, nowhere plainer than in a book built around a serial printed on disposable paper shirt fronts.
